Mahindra World City, Jaipur launches eco-friendly bicycle sharing services

  • Partners with Pink Pedals to enable healthy last-mile connectivity within the integrated city
Jaipur, March 19, 2019: Mahindra World City Jaipur Ltd. (MWC Jaipur), a joint venture between Mahindra Lifespace Developers Limited (MLDL) and Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO), has introduced bicycle sharing services within its Multi-Product Special Economic Zone. A fleet of 50 cycles is now available at conveniently situated docking stations for shared use by employees and visitors at MWC Jaipur.

Commenting on the initiative, Sanjay Srivastava, Business Head, Mahindra World City, Jaipur & Director, ORIGINS, Ahmedabad said, “MWC Jaipur has a vibrant business ecosystem with 85+
companies signed up across various zones and daily footfall of nearly 25,000 – 30,000 persons. We are
delighted to introduce bicycle sharing services as another milestone in our journey of world class
sustainable city development. This service will offer all the wellness benefits of seamless intra-city last
mile connectivity to users, while ensuring a cleaner & safer transport alternative with reduced emission benefits in the area.”

Pink Pedals bicycles at MWC Jaipur have been designed for rider safety and comfort. Features include
universal design that is compatible with all kinds of clothing, baskets, mudguards, reflectors and LED
lights for night riding. The initial phase of the cycle sharing project at MWC Jaipur will enable ‘app-free- riding’ for users, with employees of Pink Pedals available at docking stations to assist riders as required .
The number of cycles will thereafter be augmented in phases and an integrated app-based sharing
system will be rolled out, basis further requirements and demand.

Established in 2006, MWC Jaipur embodies the philosophy of ‘Livelihood, Living and Life’ and consists of a Multi-Product Special Economic Zone (SEZ), a Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) and planned social & residential infrastructure. The multi-product Special Economic Zone at MWC Jaipur is North India’s largest and Rajasthan’s first operational SEZ. Companies who have already signed up at MWC Jaipur range from small & mid-sized entrepreneur-driven businesses, to large global & Indian corporations.
